The more you know, the better off you will always be! This requires that you keep educating yourself, and pay attention to all possible events that might affect you. Understand personal finance matters that could affect you. Understand how each of your investments fits in with the rest of your portfolio and with your overall strategy. Understand the risks associated with each investment. Gather unbiased and objective information. Get a second opinion, a third opinion, etc. Be cautious when evaluating the advice of anyone with a vested interest. If you're going to invest in stocks, learn as much as you can about the companies you're considering. Understand before you invest! Research, research, research! Read Books and educate yourself! Experiment with various strategies before you put your own money on the line. Examine all available historical data. Try fundamental analysis, try a technical analysis portfolio, a dividend portfolio, a price/earnings growth portfolio, and any others you might think of. Missleading Fund Names Wreak Havoc On Investor Returns!
Mutual fund managers use fake fund names to part you from your money such that you cannot judge what a fund does by its name. Many funds have names that are outright misleading or even deceptive. In the late 1990's, for instance, during the technology stock bubble, some portfolio managers took advantage of public's desire to chase the latest fad by slapping "internet" in front of their fund names.
Coca-Cola - A Value Stock?
There has been much talk lately about Coca-Cola and its potential as a value stock ? as it now spots a dividend yield of 2.6% (which is the highest dividend yield since the late 1980s) and a P/E or less than 21 ? right at the bottom of its five-year low. Moreover, the current price of approximately $43 a share is also near the bottom of its nine-year range ? The Perfect Economy?
The U.S. economic data reported this week showed strong output growth with tame inflation. Industrial Production expanded at about 1% in June, three times greater than expected, while both the June Consumer and Producer Price Indices were unchanged. Also, the June Capacity Utilization rate rose to 80.0%, and the June Unemployment Rate fell to 5.0%. The June data generally show there is neither strain nor slack in the U.S. economy. Therefore, the U.S. economy is expanding at an optimal rate.
